The National Theatre is a leading Czech theater scene, and the repertoire consists of drama, opera and ballet performances.
The National Theatre was founded in 1881, after a long construction due to lack of funds necessary for the construction of such a large theater. National Theatre was built in Neo-Renaissance style, decorated with paintings and sculptures, the theater had become a symbol of the independence of the Czech nation and language. Unfortunately, the same year the theater was destroyed by fire, and after two years of reconstruction was reopened November 18, 1883 premiere Libuše Smetana, specially composed for this occasion.
